A Spiritual Guide to Pendulums

Updated: Sep 22, 2021

Pendulums- you may have heard of them before, but may not be sure how to use them or why you would want to. A pendulum is technically 'a weight hung from a fixed point so that it can swing freely back and forth.' But pendulums have been used as ancient divination tools for many, many years. The idea behind the pendulum is that is can bring subconscious energy into conscious awareness to give you answers to questions you may have. Of course, you should always use them for your highest good.

The idea behind them is just how there is energy in everything, the energy within us runs through our arm and down through the pendulum. They can help you gain insight by asking them yes or no questions and seeing how they respond. They help to bring unconscious energy into conscious awareness.

First start off by holding your pendulum by its chain. Make sure to have a steady hand and if it helps you can rest your elbow on a flat surface. You want to make sure that you are centered and grounded when using your pendulum. One of the most important things is to not have bias or an answer you are already expecting from the pendulum. This can sway the answer so you want to go into your questions very cleansed and open minded. You may even want to do a short meditation before using it to clear your mind of worries and bring in light and love.

There is a fews way you can understand their answers.

1) You can use a mat. There are many mats out there that simple say on them, yes, no, maybe, rephrase, and your pendulum will swing in the direction of the answer. There are even more complex mats that have numbers and days on them as well as yes, no, maybe and zodiac signs. We just got a few of these in the other day, and with these you can start to go behind just yes or no questions. When you ask your pendulum the question, it will move in whatever direction the answer is.

2)You can establish a language between your body and the pendulum. Again, hold your pendulum by the chain and you can put your other hand underneath the pendulum to have energy flowing from both ends. You will need to ask the pendulum to respond to yes, no and maybe. As you can see in the video attached, you'll want to say to your pendulum, 'Tell me yes.' Your pendulum may move in a circle or line, and the you'll know that this is the movement for yes. You can then do this with no and maybe as well. Then you will have a language of movement between you and your pendulum.

Just how you would your stones and crystals, it is important to cleanse and charge your pendulum. Sometimes when you first pick up a pendulum at the store, it may not react as strongly as you'd like it. I see this happen all the time and people look at me like, 'is this thing broken?' It's not, but just like crystals, you may need to spend more time with it so your energies are connected. You may need to cleanse it and you may need to redo this again if you have used it for a long time. You can cleanse them similarly to how you would a crystal. You can use, fire, air, earth and water to do so.

•Fire-put your pendulum in a pyramid and expose it to the sun for a few hours. This will energize it with the higher vibrations.

•Earth- Bury your pendulum in soil or sea salt and let it there for a while. This can absorb and transmute any negative energy.

•Water- Put your pendulum in a bowl of crystal energized water, and visualize it being cleansed and love flowing and replacing any obstacles.

•Air- You can put your pendulum over burning Frankincense incense or use sage or palo santo to cleanse it.

You may also want to know, how do I choose a pendulum? Well, again, it's just like a crystal, it is important to follow your intuition and pick one you feel attracted to and comfortable with. That is always my number one answer to this question. But if you'd still like some guidance, here are a couple tips..

Sephoroton Amethyst Pendulum

•For Beginners- pick a medium weight pendulum. If it's too light it may be too sensitive and if it's too heavy it may react too slowly.

•Sephoroton- This style has a high sensitivity to vibrations. Its form doesn't allow for as much margin error. This is good to use for questions about health, love, money or to magnetize objects.

Isis Pendulum

•Triangular: This style is said to pick up on the vibration of numbers, and could be very good if you are interested in numerology.

Chakra Copper Pendulum
Spiral Pendulum

•Chambered: Chambers have a hollow hole in them that you can put small things in. For example, if you are asking questions for a specific person you could add a strand of their hair for accurate answers (with their permission of course).

•Isis: This style is good to use for research on electromagnetic fields or in relation to astrology charts.

•Chakra: These are very good for balancing and healing chakras. You can also buy specific stones for chakras such as a lapis pendulum for throat chakra healing.

•Spiral: These are said to be good for questions about your life.

Pendulums are such an awesome tool to experiment with, and if you feel a connection to this tool, you can use it for all kinds of spiritual work. I hope you guys enjoyed this blog and the video and feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or give us a like!
