Balancing of Extremes, Strength, Practicality & Fairness
Mala Beads are a great tool for meditation. Malas are strands of 108 beads (made from anything from gemstones to wood) plus one "guru" bead. It is best to only use one mantra/affirmation for each strand of mala. Each time you wear it, allow it to remind you of your affirmation!
The stone of your choosing for your mala can also radiate different healing properties. For example, Rose Quartz is the universal Stone of Love. It has everything to do with loving yourself, spirituality of love, and love of others. If you want to work on loving yourself more and recognizing your self worth, you might choose a rose quartz mala.
How to use them: Choose a spot and sit comfortably with your spine straight and your eyes closed. Take a few deep breaths to center and align yourself with your intention. If you have one, use an affirmation/mantra for this practice, chanting loudly or silently. Hold your mala in your right hand, draped between your middle and index fingers. Starting at the guru bead, use your thumb to cunt each smaller bead, pulling it towards you as you recite your mantra/affirmation. Do this 108 times, traveling around the mala, until you once again reach the guru bead. If you want to continue the meditation, instead of passing over the guru bead, simply reverse direction and begin again.
